So I'm out for an after work spin. Winds from hell. This was the first time I've done this loop all year. It takes you pretty far out in the country side. Lots of horses, cattle and sheep. I make it to my turn around and start heading back home. I start down a small hill and something isn't right. Flat. First one of the year. I get stopped without incident. Not 30 seconds after I get stopped (I had just gotten the rear wheel off. I've got another cyclist , "Are you all right?" "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a flat." He takes off and at least 10 more cyclists go by (which was kind of suprising given my location). Well within the next 3 mins, I managed to 1) Pull the head off the presta valve of my spare tube, 2) Break my pump 3) Witness a car run off the road and skid up an embankment (they drove off). I patched my original tube and 1/2 way fixed my pump. I ended up calling the calvery (my wife) to come pick me up. I felt kind of bad doing it, because she just had foot surgery last week. And I still had to cut grass when I got home. Had I just had the first guy that stopped wait 5 mins, I most likely would have made it home on my own. It was just one of those nights..... 🙂
