  1. Hey all,

I posted a week or so ago, and was given some advice to up my carb count
into OWL rather than keeping in induction, like I had for almost 3 months.

I've adjusted my carb levels up to about 40grams a day now, and its helped
    on a few levels.

    1. I have still been losing weight. I lost 3 pounds in the week I upped my
    carbs.
    2. Eating a few more carbs makes it much easier not to feel 'deprived' and
    prone to little cheats.
    3. I'm not feeling quite as 'ketoney,' and I consider that a good thing.
    🙂

One treat I've enjoyed is having a hamburger/chicken sandwich from the
grill, and actually using the bottom half of the bun. Its around 10-12
carbs, but makes ALL the difference in feeling like I'm eating a real
sandwich, instead of just eating meat/lettuce.

    Thanks for the tips folks!

3 months down, 39 pounds lost, and I'm feeling pretty good. Just need to
actually start seriously exercising now. Although my weight is done, my
    belly is way too soft....

Following all of the phases of Atkins is not obvious.
Obvious - If low carb is good, lower carb must be
better. Not obvious - Decades of effort discovered a
system that exceeds the performance of doing the
obvious, and that's what OWL is.

More carbs while in ketosis does not reduce loss rate.
Doesn't matter that Dr A made that claim; he was wrong
    on that point.

Agreed. It's easier to stay on a milder and more
varied plan. Having it work at least as well as
a stricter plan is an added benefit.

More veggies and/or carbier veggies is a better option
than grain if you're fresh out of Induction. There's
more to the process than counting carb grams just like
there's more to the process than sticking to 20.

Good for you! Thanks for giving us an update. 🙂

  4. 40 carbs per day is reasonable number.

Beware of judging diet changes by short term weight changes. It takes a
month or two to see a real change in trend. Short term, weight fluctuates
    like the stock market.

  6. One thing I do for hamburgers and sandwiches is to get some of that Carb Out
flat bread from Wal-Mart. It is long and oval. I put the hamburger patty on
and fold the flat bread over to make the bun. You can also make "pizzas"
using this bread and it's pretty low carb.

  10. I also do better at 40 then I do at 20.. it is hard for me to get that high
without "fake" foods though as I feel guilty eating large amounts of veggies
when I could eat less of the low carb stuff and make it last longer.. usualy
I just drink a little milk since that is one high carb food that I miss.. Or
I drink iced coffee with cream and splenda. Also a bit or 2 of icecream
sometimes.. but it really is too sweet now and is no fun to cheat if it does
    not taste good 😉

  11. Yes, so?

Just not sure I get your point....you said "Bread is not low-carb" ...I
think everyone knows that. However, if somebody chooses to have a low-carb
flatbread or regular old wheat bread and counts the carbs....what's the big
deal? If I eat around 10 carbs a day in other foods, and have a piece of
bread with a sandwich....is that not 'low carb' eating anymore, even if I'm
    at or around 20 grams?

And you still didn't explain how testicles correlate with will power....

  12. Why do you think that 98% of people fail in their diet attempts?

Could it have something to do with mindset?

Could it have something to do with will power?

  13. Brad---Im SO JEALOUS!!!! You're dropping weight like crazy!

I agree---long as the carbs are counted...

I do think, if we're gonna have a sandwich with bread, the bread needs
to be whole grain, tho---not Wonder bread! White flour is a 'simple"
carbohydrate, one step short of sugar. It can and does cause blood sugar
levels to spike..then fall, just as quickly, tempting the body to beg
for more quick sugar. Whole grain bread has carbs, yes, but at least
they're complex carbs and dont cause the sugar 'spike"....and contains
some nutritional goodies, unlike white bread.

I look at my 40 carbs like 40 bucks in my pocket---I 'spend" it wisely!

There are some lo-carb wheat breads with 5 g.carb/slice. Tasty, too. I
usually have 2 slices a day, either with eggs or in a sandwich, just for
    the nutritional benies.

Whole grains are important---lots of B complex and fiber. I feel the
lack of whole grain is the only reason to not just stay on induction!
Im not big on fruit, anyway and get my vitamin C from sweet peppers. So,
if I have 10 g. carb a day from whole grain and 4 or 5 from sweet
peppers in my salad, plus 2 or so from a Roma tomato....I feel that my
carb allowance was 'well spent"-- lots of nutrition in those carbs.
Then, if I want a treat, a 5 g.LC icecream bar works. A cup of milk,
plus the icecream gives me a little calcium and ALL this serious
nutrition still leaves a little "change" in my pocket, so to spea.

Nothing for me to attempt to understand from you JC.

Could it have something to do with the fact that 98% of what you post is
    drivel?

Could it have something to do with the fact that you're a pompous ass?

    I expect you might understand.
