  1. Assuming that KILLER BIRD FLU takes off as predicted,
what food should I store in advance in the event
I can't leave the house for 2-4 weeks?

Here's the start of my list:

    28 12-packs of non-alcoholic beer
    56 cans of chicken soup
    56 boxes of Kleenex

I suppose I can go off my low-carb diet,
because getting enough calories may be a
problem. So maybe add a big bag of rice.
Of course, I'll still be sensitive to bean protein,
    so forget the beans.

What else keeps well enough that I can store it
long-term for emergency rations during a
    prolonged illness?

More canned veggies for a start,
Canned tuna, canned juices, bottled water,
toilet paper, I can think of _lots_ of things.

According to HHGTTG, a towel would be good.

Gee, that's strange, HHGTTU recommends that, too.

If you have a freezer, you can store lots of squid 🙂

Given how serious the disease could become should it spread, your first
thing to store would be someone to take care of you! You will probably
be too ill to get anything to eat.

Think water and crackers by the bedside. If you got bird flu, your low
carb diet would be the very very least of your worries.

Actually think juices and electrolyte replacement things like gatorade
by the bedside as well as crackers and other easy to eat things. I
sufferend though Dengue fever last November and was in bed with 104 deg
F temperature for almost 5 days. I was sleeping 18 hours a day. All I
wanted was fluids - water, juices, gatorade, etc.

  15. Got a recipe for that Four Thieves Vinegar?

I had the Sydney flu in 98 (old timers do you remember?). Went from
healthy as a horse, never been in a hospital, to sick as a dog in a
week. I just got worse and worse, and had plenty of gatorade. It was
respiratory & high fever as well as severe gastro-intestinal distress.
Ended up in the hospital with pneumonia, on iv fluids. 2 days there.
Wiped out in bed for another month. Lost 18 pounds.

After that I understood how the flu can kill you. And this past month
my 5 year old got salmonella from playing around live chickens - he was
hospitalized for *three* days. (He got a secondary infection as well as
the salmonella.) So I'm pretty respectful of these bugs - and not all
that certain there's much to do to prevent getting them. Those flu
    shots are a guessing game.

Maybe this is a money-making opportunity.
I could have some T-shirts made up:

Or - you could have towels made up that say - "Thanks Doug, I made it"
    and sell those....
