  1. Everything was going good on yesterday's mission until the attack came. I was on the return leg when
I heard the tell tale sound indicating trouble. A quick check of my six confirmed my fears--bandits
on the attack! It was two-ship formation of K-9s. They split and attacked me from both sides. I
tried to accelerate my way out of trouble, but the engine would not respond (I suddenly longed for
the much lighter P-38 and it's more powerful engine). After what seemed like an eternity of jinking,
the K-9s broke off the attack. I returned to base and pulled in the hangar knowing I could not fly
    my next mission unarmed.

Today I departed at 1830 hours on my normal route. Again the out bound leg was uneventful. But on
the return, I spotted a lone K-9 (yesterday's lead pilot) lying in wait. I quickly applied power and
executed a 90 degree turn to put the attacker on my starboard side. The K-9 pull aside in attack
mode--but he wasn't prepared for what happened next. I engaged the PF65 (a sawed off UST Pro Force
65 Gold graphite golf shaft trimmed to 2' with a Golf Pride Player's Softie grip) and scored a hit
on the nose cone. The K-9 did a 180 and bugged out with his tail tucked under his fuselage.

Hopefully tomorrow's mission will be uneventful. But if not, the PF65 will be armed and
    ready to fire!!

That is always a beautiful site.

And a great use of graphite!

ROTFL!!! I loved your story!!! I feel bad you dealt with dogs but the storytelling was great! I have my Topeak Road Morph on the chainstay on my Burley. It is always readily available to deter the K-9s.

Out of curiosity, what happened to your P-38? Did you get rid of it? If so, why?

I would have rather popped the owners on the nose but they weren't around. About 12 years ago I was
bitten by a dog while riding an MTB through some forrest land in Berlin. I ended up getting rabies
shots. It ain't happening again if I can help it.

I reached a point where I had basically given up riding--my new passion is golf (thus the source
of the PF-65 K-9 Assault Weapon). My last hurrah was commuting to work 22 miles one way with my
home made full fairing. But I had a couple run-ins with local auto-driving yahoos that made me
decide it wasn't worth the risk. I sold the P-38 so I could buy a Rowbike. Didn't like that thing
much so I sold it built myself another set of clubs and a nice bag. It wasn't until I started
riding my son's DF for a little exercise that I realized I HAD to get 'bent again. And now you
know the rest of the story.

BTW, I weighed 253 around mid-March. I was 218 this morning. My little six mile bike ride helps
    (along with the diet).

  6. I carry a freon-powered foghorn which does admirable duty and no dents on the animal. Was accosted
by one angry owner who chased after in car. Told IT that state law allows for demise of animals not
tethered and if it happens again I'll probably resort to Ruger Blackhawk I carry in holster in plain
view. Offered that animal owner either tether animal or build fence.
