Good stuff from Bernie: Basso is an enfeebled geezer who should hang it
up before he dislocates his hip trying to swing a leg over his bike.
Chavanel is a human wasteland, a dried out husk of a man.
I just wish the Badger wouldn't pull his goddamn punches. I mean, tell
us what you *really* think.

BERNARD BOMBS BASSO
What about 2004 Tour podium finisher, Ivan Basso? "No, Basso's
29-years-old," the Badger snapped, rather erroneously overestimating
the Italian's age by two years.
"We must stop talking about him and his chances. He's almost 30. If he
was as good as everyone has claimed, he would have already caused
Armstrong some problems."
What about the state of French cycling, is there any hope in the likes
of perennial espoir Sylvan Chavanel?
"I ask myself sometimes if the guy even exists," laments the Breton
curmudgeon. "He's just a desert. Is there anything actually there apart
from sand?
"There is Christophe Moreau I suppose, but would he put his
hypothetical chances of a podium finish ahead of his desire to win a
stage?" asks the Grouch.
"Today [Thursday], David Moncoutié saved the French furniture from the
flames."
