Aussie brand bicycles?

    back in '96 i bought a Apollo Himalaya

    I was driven by it being an Australian product and of course, Cadel Evans rode a Apollo MTB back then

    is Apollo still Australian owned? Obviously not built

    Holla if you own one and tell ur specs

    Also, are there any other Aussie brands still around? Hillbrick? Kerry Hopkins? Mass produced ones?

    I just got my Apollo Himalaya rebuilt for commuting... it runs:

    7005 bone shaker frame
    Alivio drivetrain (new fr derailleur but original rear)
    no name rims with 26x1.25 Specialized Fatboys slicks (100psi)
    new riser bar ($25)
    original no name V-brakes with Aztec pads (V-Brakes were the latest thing then)
    original RST 381 forks rebuilt 3 times
    Topeak Anodised purple rack
    Old Skool profile bar ends
    Parrallax Hubs
    SigmaBC1200 cycle computer

    I guess Malvern Star is as Australian as Vegemite, but owned by the big US company.

    Raceline are a part of the Apollo company/brand. Not sure if they are Australian owned still though. Basically, Raceline is the racing/competitive cycling label of Apollo.

    I have a Raceline roadbike. Compact frame, and just plain ol' 105 bits. Nothing fancy, but they do have higher-end models with carbon seatstays, Ksyriums. Their MTB's are well specced for the price too.

    We may not make world class bicycles but Velocity certainly makes world class rims - we should all be using them when possible.

    Thanks for the reminder. I spoke with them today, they have some 650c Aero Wheelsets on special at the moment.

    i suppose they are aussie

    one thing i've noticed, they are not as cheap as they claim

    i think in some cases, avanti seem better value

    i've heard mixed things about learsport

    any of their higher range MTBs are poor... in terms of their geometry/setup

    there road bikes seems ok, but for the same money i can get a better avanti/giant

    Do any of you ride Alchemy's? I used to see a few around when I was down in Perth. I'll probably be returning to Aussie in a few months and was thinking of splashing out on a new road bike as the track bike I currently ride is almost at shagged point. Any ggod points / bad points about the Alchemy ride (carbon fibre / aluminium?)?
