A friend of mine lent me one of his bikes. It has Dura Ace components. I wish to take good care of this bike for him while its in my care. My first task was to clean it up well to get stuff like old chain grunge off the bike and do a lube.
While examining the components, I noted that the large chainring had nicks out of the trailing edge of a few 'teeth' (I don't know what to call them). Is this a serious issue? Should i replace the chain ring? Will this hurt the chain? What could cause such damage? TIA.
