4'11'' wife needs recumbant

Easy Racers EZ-1 Lite, I have the regular version that I picked up for my 5'2" wife and 4'10" son
and they have no problems riding it. The Lite would be better for a gain in speed that you
mentioned.

BTW, for a rider of 4' 11" you should consider shorter crankrms than come standard on production
'bents. I just created a web page for the modified 155mm Dotek triples I sell. Actually I'd
recommend 140s for someone her size, if they were available.

Besides improving the femur length to crank length ratio, short cranks have another advantage for
shorter riders. With 155s you sit 15mm further back. This might be the difference between having
enough seat adjustment or not. On many, but by no means all, 'bents this also improves ergonomics
and/or weight distribution.

I have just been through this process with my very short wife. The only bents we could easily find
that she felt confortable on were the RANS Stratus and V2, both of which have quite low seat heights
of 19 to 21". The folks at the shop said the Stratus was their standby model for short riders.

Try the Lightning Phantom or P-38. I sat flat-footed on the S/M Phantom. The P-38 is even lower, but
way over priced even before the $220 discrimination against short people surcharge for a small
frame. For the price difference you could trick out a Phantom real slick. Good luck.

The time-tested GRR design is extremely safe, manageable and it handles beautifully. It also is

I have a Medium Lightning P-38. I would not recommend a Small or any Lightning with a 16" wheel.

I have a Bacchetta Giro. I do not know how a Small Giro would fit a 4'11" person but if it does,

Today, I rode a CycleGenius CGX 3.0. This bike would work and since no others have recommended it, I
will. New to the CGX3.0 are tiltable H/B and a foam seat. Both features fix what I saw as problems
in the earlier CGs.

Probably its best feature is the $450 retail price. This is the bike that IMO can be the mass market
entry for the general population.

Ther are other higher end CycleGenius and I understand that these can be fitted with the
new H/B too.

I have a custom (extra low) Leprechaun and a small Giro. Neither is as low as the Phantom I
mentioned. Seat height numbers can be fooling because not all are measured equally and the legs
reach the ground differently. For the Haluzak, the knee must bend sharply at the edge of the
webbing. For tractor type (V-front) seats (Bacchetta, Lightning, GRR/TE), the upper leg can also be
sloped toward the ground.

The Giro, is taller due to its 406 front wheel. So, while it is not the shortest bike, it has some
advantages for those who fit it. I am working on a solution to lower the seat by at least an inch. I
will report when I have completed my research.

The GRR/TE of course will fit shorter riders very well.

I second a small size Gold Rush (still check whether it will fit). Multiple frame sizes, user
friendly low pedal hight, very stable, easy to handle and FAST (a great equalizing bike).

Lightfoot also makes a PIXY 20/16 LWB for riders from 4'4"-5'4" as well as a similar delta trike
called the Trixy.
