Turned pro in 1982 with Alfa Lum, first OZ rider to take a
stage in the Giro that year, stage 3.

Took 8th overall in the 1985 Giro.

A stage in the Vuelta (1983), Tour de Suisse (1989).

Retired in 1990.

BarloWorld's Ryan Cox also.

Tiaan Kannemeyer (current SA champion and also from Barloworld) is a
pretty good rider too.

Aren't Barloworld an Italian team registered in Britain or something?
They do a fair number of races in South Africa and Asia. Very
multinational.

Cool. Thanks all. I was after a little more on Barloworld. They are
registered in GB, actually an SA team, but running under the old
Mercatone Uno structure... they still use the same cars.. got bloody
loads of miles on them! It's a mix of ITA and RSA riders, including
ex-postal's David George (who was banned for a bit last year)... and
a lot of arrogant ITA guys... I actually race with these guys a bit,
and am after more "in depth" info if poss...

What I would really like to know is the withholding company it operates
under + it's future.

SA teams: any info on Konica Minolta, the structure, Microsoft etc. I
know the riders, their Palmares and also most of the races these teams
have done in the past few years, but if anyone knows any more about the
running of the teams, that would be great.

As for Wilson, I gathered he was making wine these days... any info?

yeah, but only because what's his face was kicked out for a positive...
well.. I shouldn't say "only" it was a hard bloody race, altitude
really gets you up there...

Actually also Spanish (Igor Astarloa), Columbian (Félix Cárdenas),
Australian (Sean Sullivan) and British riders (Tom Southam).

Konica Minolta is more a development team for younger riders
although it does also contain a few older riders to provide
some experience (one of the younger riders, John-Lee Augustyn comes from
my hometown and used to combine MTB and road racing before going pro).

Microsoft are a mostly local team although they do make an occasional
international foray, for example in the Tour of China. Microsoft and HSBC
used to be the two biggest local teams but HSBC pulled out last year.
