Th concept of combining powerful drugs---blended just right, in a proper dose, has been around for centuries.
Even Elvis Presley was using cocktails of cancer drugs and amphetamines--chased with sleeping pills.
My understanding, (I am not a athletic performance-based drug addict) is that the athlete seeks:
1) Pain abatement so as to push 100%, without doubt and devoid of pain feelings.
2) anti-inflammatory for maximum use of all muscle groups.
3) a sense of euphoria which fuels confidence
4) alertness and overcoming fatigue.
5) more endurance
6) stimulated heart rate prior to a TT effort.
Add in all the other stuff, anemia products, vasodilators etc... and you fuel a rocketship.
It is certainly possible to overdose on any one of the doping elements and actually [censored] PERFORMANCE or worse, have a heart attack/stroke.
Dr. Michele Ferrari would be unemployed without a clear understanding of how to use/abuse these drugs.
The fact that Lance spend 10+ years with such a corrupt doper/trainer forever condems Lance and taints all of his recent successes (1996-2005). Lance has ZERO credibility with anti-doping. NONE.
He is a joke, and his sport is a joke.
The TDF is all about the strongest drug addict, not the finest natural athlete.
[quote="Borg"]As reported in a thread on this forum, what would this mix do (say Valium and ephedrine/amphetamine). It seems to be similar in construct to the Pot Belge idea of mixing stimulants (Coke) with downers/euphorics -- morphine and heroin. Morphine would kill the pain no doubt.
Benzodiazipines are prescribed for back-pain as well as anxiety disorders etc and the ephedrine must overcome the effects of delayed reaction time etc. Or would the sleeping pills have been a barbituate or opioid? These would cause the muscles to relax...no?
Speculation please...
