I read the first of his Inspector Montalbano (protagonist in a mystery
series) series translated to English a few years back and immediately noted
that Salvo (Montalbano) was both a foodie and a very bright, well-read man.
Then, I ignored them even through I continued to buy the books. (I own 5 and
Ed has read them all, so at least that many have been translated.) Vilco
and Pandora, possibly also Nathalie, may be well-aware of these since the
books were adapted for TV in Italy.
Well, this week, I decided to continue on with the series. It's killing me,
I tell you. Food, food everywhere, with descriptions in the notes at the
end of the books, and I can't even think about cooking the stuff. Most of
the good pots and pans are in Colorado, and the good knives are in
Minnesota, etc, etc, this is in Minnesota and that is in Colorado. Phhttt,
I hate this. A special kind of Med. Sea tuna in a sweet and sour sauce, oh
dang!
I think I'll just go off to the kitchen and slice myself some tomatoes for a
late-night snack---I'm in Minnesota now, and I have the knives, you see!
