maybe you don't notice any difference in shoes. I for one DO encounter
differences. And the difference range from, not being able to run far
without pain to useful for short distances (<6miles) to comfortable
almost to the day of disposal.

I'm a bit of a newbie and asked advice about which shoe to wear.
Loaded with the opinions of those here and a couple of people that run
where I work, I went shopping. I tried on adiidis, new balance, and
even the dreaded nike. They all seemed to feel about the same. Then
on the recommendation of my co-worker I tried on a pair of brooks. It
was like the difference between night and day. They were all in the
$60 price range.

Well most shoes that list for $60 will feel the same, because they
aren't heavy duty, or technologically advanced. $60 shoes are fine for
lower mileage, but when you hit 6 to 10 a day, the more expensive
shoes are required. You maybe one of the lucky ones who can run in $60
shoes. Brooks are a nice soft, cushiony shoe, but tend to be a very
short-life shoe.

I disagree that all running shoes are equal. Some models are better for
some people than for others. If all shoes were equal then there would be
only one model.

Making shoes is not rocket science, but there is a lot of research that goes
into it.

I tend to agree that these shoes will probably wear faster. I'm still
at the 3-4mile run so will ask the red suited guy for a better pair.
30 years ago when I was trying to get into shape to start karate,
I was running 6-miles a day. And silly me, I ran bare-footed. If I
hadn't done it, I would hardly believe it. Oh well, I'm a hillbilly
from the Ozarks in Arkansas so go figure.
