Quoted message said:Is there actual marketing of bicycles to people in England? I have
yet to see a TV commercial for a bicycle of any kind anywhere.
So you didn't watch three weeks of commercials interrupted by a bike
race on OLN last July? <g>
Nope, not at all. I have a very complicated set of emotions about
racing bicycles; right now I'm not lending my little tiny piece of
support by watching races on TV, so I didn't see the commercials 😉
You would think that a $3,500 Maddone (one d or 2, I forget) would have
some TV demographic on at least one show that I watch, especially if you
consider the bike prices and rider demographics on the US 9W corridor
every weekend. Does it mean that cyclists are smarter than, say, other
vehicle purchasers and cannot be fooled by commercials?

Quoted message said:Can you send
us some of those marketers? I would really like to have someone sell
me some office - type clothes and briefcases and stuff that really
works well on a bike. I used to buy Quicksilver clothes, but now
they're just a label and don't make the technical clothes anymore.
For briefcases, try Arkel. Clip right to your rack like a pannier.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
Quoted message said:For clothes, I don't get the problem. Wear your bike shorts and a
white polyester t-shirt as underwear. Take off the office clothes to
ride. Put 'em in the briefcase. Isn't it better not to sweat in your
work clothes?
Situation assessed and answered by the next poster. But Quicksilver
used to make clothes that would pass as casual office attire but also
had thermal control and would resist grease, splatter, runs and tears,
etc.
