A good question, IMHO, and not a single response and yet if you had
mentioned poles or gps's or new xyz kit it would have resulted in a
huge number of posts!

(Not been that way myself). He says park by Lowthwaite Farm.

Thanks, Andy. And for your comments, David. True only too often, I'm afraid.

I'll aim to give the Rake a go sometime over the next couple of weeks,
weather permitting, and will let you know how I get on.

I'm definitely going to ELD in two weeks time and it may be able to be
fit it into my plans.....

I climbed it about ten years ago on my one and only outing with a
Ramblers Association group (from Cheshire). As I remember the centre
of the rake is full of loose scree but there was reasonable footing
where grass meets scree on the RHS. It is steep but safe, but most of
the RA group found it unpleasant and there was a lot of grumbling all
the way. We parked near Lowthwaite farm but as I wasn't driving I
didn't take much notice. I've not included it on any of the routes on
my website and whenever I've climbed Clough Head since I've gone up
the fellside from Hause Well sometimes via White Pike.

I was also keen to try this route but the above description has put me
off, too much exposure. There is an "intermediate" route listed up
Clough Head which looks okay.
I can recomend desaending down the NNW grass ridge from White Pike to
the Old Coach Road as a safe easy on the knees route.
