OK, new sound while pedalling the Trek 2000. Intermittent, seems to be
right pedal only on the top of the downstroke (could be imagining that
part) - nothing obviously flexing. Bike is only 8mos old.
Just started last Tueday - nothing changed on it.
Of course, feels like it's coming from the bottom bracket and when riding
very slowly with a bit extra push, like coming back up a slight hill after
U-turning. Hollow-sounding.
Checked the spoke magnet(s) and the pedal magnet (cadence) all have at
least 5-6mm clearance or a bit more moved them a little further apart just
in case of frame flex.
Noise is intermittant, iow, not synched to pedal rotation. Sometimes
doesn't happen until several minutes into the ride, then it's every 10th
pedal or more; obviously not synched with wheel rotation, every 100th spin
of the wheel or more.
Isn't coming from the saddle / saddle rails, though they are clickking.
That has its own high tenor 'clikk, clikk' that happens every pedal stroke
and changes when I move my butt around on the saddle or stops when I stand.
Nothing changes this new hollow sounding 'Klop-klop' (seems to happen twice
then smooth pedalling for several seconds). Happens while standing to
pedal, iirc.
I tried to jiggle the bottom bracket, pull on the cranks - seems secure.
Wheel has not been take off recently. No extra drag, bike is brisk as
usual. Brakes look fine.
Guess I'll take it in and cross my fingers, get a pre-Fall tune up or
something. ;-/
