Martin, each Sunday I post a list of low-carb tips (you can Google it or
wait for Sunday). In it I specifically mention JC der Koenig because he
IS the resident troll. He insults EVERYONE and on occasion advises
people to kill themselves, especially newbies (usually within minutes of
their first post). Just filter out his posts and ignore him --
otherwise you'll make him feel "special".

Hostile, not bothering to learn the regulars, not
bothering to follow the rules. Unfortunately this
does not bode well for your long term success. If you
are that slap-dash in seeking advice, what's the chance
you will adhere to the actual program well enough to
suceed? Not high I'm afraid. If you get this angry
at good simple advice on how to use a newsgorup or on
what book to read, what's the chance you'll stick with
the program during week 3? Not good enough for you to
learn in advance what happens in week 3 I'm afraid.

I don't think telling someone to kill themself is good simple advice. I am
on week three and have stocked up on plenty of fruit and leafy greens to go
with the meat. I'll let you know how it goes.

Um, yeah. Fruit is not low-carb. I think the advice to kill yourself
was a bit much, there may be something worthwhile in you we haven't seen
yet. But let's do a rundown of what we DO know about you:

You claim to be on a diet plan you can't spell.
You haven't been eating vegetables, which is one of the requirements of
the plan you claim you're on.
You don't know the difference between a newsgroup and a chat room.
You claim you don't have enough money to buy a book which you can get
    for free at the library.
And now you've bought a bunch of fruit, which isn't allowed in the early
stages of the diet you claim you're on.

You're making me laugh and weep for humanity all at the same time.
Don't kill yourself, I need some entertainment.

she couldn't afford the book. As she posted to the Usenet on her $1500

So I typod the name and screwed up on the veggies. I have now remedied the

    9 lbs. That's good.

    Try some of my favorites.

Chicken Caesar Salad (without croutons of course)
Fry chicken with some seasoning salt or other spices. Add parmesan cheese
and Caesar salad dressing to chopped romaine. Slice chicken into strips and
    lay on top.

    Lettuce Wraps
Sliced onions, tomatoes, and green pepper combined with taco spiced beef
and shredded cheddar cheese. Use a large romaine lettuce leaf to wrap it in.
Onions and tomatoes are a little higher carb, so use less if you are at a
    lower carb count.

    Fried Shrimp With Cole Slaw
Fry frozen peeled shrimp in butter. Make your own cole slaw using
cabbage, a little pickle juice, some mayonnaise, and a little mustard.

    Lasagna (without noodles)
There are lots of different recipes, but we use one that included
veggies like spinach, onion, and celery. Tomato sauce would be higher carb
because of the concentration, so don't use as much as the recipe calls for.
This one may be better for the maintenance phase than for on going
    weightloss.

    Fish and Steamed Broccoli
    This one's easy

    Omelets
Ham, cheese, onion, mushrooms and green pepper

    Chef's Salad
Ham ( or cold cuts ), cheddar cheese, eggs, lettuce(50%), (the
rest)broccoli, cauliflower, green pepper, green onion, radishes. If your
carb count allows, a little salad dressing too.

    Mediterranean Salad
I just kind of wing it. Romaine lettuce, red onion, peppers, olives, feta
cheese, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Watch the carb count on the
balsamic, or use plain vinegar spiced with some oregano, and basil.

    Snacks (or a meal)
Nuts. Pecans are high fiber and also my favorite. Beef jerky (making your
own is best with spices and a dehydrator or oven on no higher than 160F).
Devilled eggs are great too, using; mayonnaise, mustard, and paprika mixed
    with the egg yokes.

    Goodluck

So I typod the name and screwed up on the veggies.

And confused this newsgroup with a chat room. And said you can't afford
the book, even though you can read it for free. No matter.

    I have now remedied the
veggie situation. I've made it through induction, just without veggies, so I
am now looking at phase 2. According to the Atkins web site on phase two I
can have certain fruits. Maybe you should read the book.

Actually, you haven't even started induction yet. Since induction
requires vegetables, and you weren't eating them, you never did
induction. And I'm not doing Atkins, so I don't need to read the Atkins
    book.

  19. Hello,

Food allergies often get the blame when food intolerance is the
problem. Intolerance refers to when the body doesn't properly process
food. That's why doctors stress getting tested by an allergist.

One common condition is lactose intolerance - when the body doesn't
make enough of the enzyme needed to digest milk products. The result is
about the same as food poisoning.

"People have milk allergies, but by far the biggest problem adults have
is lactose intolerance," said Wedner of Washington University.

Oh, I don't know, I've kind of taking a liking to Martin if only because
he started out with some mistaken ideas about Atkins based on the media
(and Lord knows we've ALL been screwed over by media misinformation time
and again). If we hadn't read the book and/or posted and read here for
information, we could EASILY have made the same mistake since all we see
on television ON THE NEWS WE ARE *SUPPOSED* TO TRUST is people frying
bacon and steak topped with butter and sour cream -- to see anyone
bother to mention vegetables in conjunction with Atkins is extremely
rare. I've also seen several postings over the last couple of years
with the diet misspelled as Adkins -- so much so that I've sometimes
wondered if it's some kind of regional thing (particularly in the UK)
that just caught on -- it's annoying, but not uncommon. He posted here
for advice and got slammed for it. Of COURSE he's bristling about that
-- I would be too. Also, as you know, LOTS of people react with anger
to JC, which is exactly what JC WANTS. You may think it's funny for him
to advise people to kill themselves, but I've seen him do it to
OBVIOUSLY emotionally fragile people and I think it's a reprehensible
thing to do. In fact, he usually RESERVES it especially FOR people that
might actually do it (I don't think Martin falls into that category,
though). That goes way beyond [censored] and straight to EVIL in my book.

I recommend that we cut Martin (and most newbies) a little slack. He
got the point and seems to have made some adjustments accordingly.
