I purchased a Connex 10 speed link as an emergency link in case my 10 speed chain snapped in the Alps (or anywhere else!). Fortunately I had no need for the link but would like to know if anyone has used one permanently on a Campag 10 speed chain. I would like the benefits of being able to remove the chain for cleaning etc.

Yeah, it works dandy,especially if instaled right side up.

Not a wise-ass answer at all, there actually is a "right side" and "wrong side" for installing Connex links.
FWIW, it's not been directly asked, but I've used these links with Shimano 10 speed chains as well without a problem.

Yep. I've done it with no problems.I seem to have more drama with the durability of the C10 chains. I've also had three Wipperman 10sp SS chains fail since the start of the year. I only weigh 68-70kg and my bikes are religiously maintained - so not sure what the problem is. Looking for alternatives at the moment.
Sorry to digress.

My biggest drama with 10 speed chains is how much those bloody Connex 10 speed connector-links cost. About half the price of a whole chain! :eek:

So what is wrong with a campy 10 chain and connex link,other than maybe the loss of some bling and poseur' points?

Out of curiousity... Is there a right way and wrong way to install the "Power Link" (or whatever they're calling it) on Sram chains? I have them on a couple of bikes (that I ride a lot) and I paid absolutely no attention to how I installed them. So far no problems but... :o

No. Either way is fine for SRAM link. It is the wipperman that can be installed upside down.

10S chains are more delicate than the old 7-8 (and 9s) chains of old and do seem to fail more than the wider chains.
Lennard Zinn discussed this issue in VeloNews during the Tour.

Wow. All this great advice, and still nobody provided what right side up is.😕
It works great with a C10 chain. One lasts for two chains, plus I keep a spare with my tube. You must install it correctly. The correct way to install it is to make it frown (curve in clasp opens downward 😠 like this guy) when on the bottom run of the chain. Magically, it smiles when on top. Go figure.

Another reason to stay away fm 10 spd rear derailleur systems. What will Shimano and Campy come up with for us to spend more money? 12 Spd? Infinite variable gear? belt s. chain? hmmmmm🙄
