  1. Today marks a two year anniversary since the date when I reached
normal weight. To recap: I lost weight by eating less and exercising
(and not eating sugar), and maintained it by the same method by almost
1 year. Maintenance was not easier than losing weight and I was
hungry much of the time. I changed to a low carb diet last July.

Since that time, weight maintenance became less of a struggle and my
thoughts no longer center around food. On average, I gained about 1 lb
since last year. My last 7 weights average to 148.7 lbs now, and last
    September that average was 173.9.

When I lost weight, I did not believe that it was likely that I could
maintain it for two years. Depite not believing that and being
skeptical, I was, in fact, able to maintain my weight loss. I am much
more optimistic now, since my current way of maintaining weight is not
nearly as onerous as it used to be. It's, basically, a normal life, as
long as I do not eat carby stuff.

I want to thank both of these newsgroups for inspiration and great
    advice that I received.

Yes, I find that to be true for myself as well. I have maintained at 180
for the past 1.5 years. It is a good way to eat and helps me to easily
control weight without thinking about food all the time. I have suffered no
ill effects, and in fact feel better than I have in 20 years. I can not see
myself going back to eating high carb. To me, this WOE is now normal.

That's outstanding! I also feel, finally, like a "normal" person when
it comes to [low carb] food.
