I'm well into the process of turning the discarded hard-rubbish Raleigh into a good shoppo/bottle-o bike, pilfering pieces from virtually every other bike I picked up that week as well. Bottom bracket's re-done, cranks are back, headset's restored, and fork replaced (Someone had a nasty accident on that old one with the fork bent not only at the legs but also at the steerer tube!)
Next step is to check out the singlespeed coaster hub that I've pinched off an old Repco. It seems to have a fair bit of drag and the brake isn't amazing (but that could be coz I haven't really put some good body weight into it yet) - Is there anything to know about coaster brake hubs before I start to pull it apart, clean it, and just jam grease wherever there seems to be moving metal? It's all a bit mysterious to me...
Tips appreciated!
