That's very strange, it's a very easy way for the council to help
towards their recycling targets at a profit! I wonder if there's some
sort of law in the way in Scotland?

Private scrapyards are run the same way. It is a necessary condition of
their insurance that the public are kept away from potential harm.

Er, I understood David to be saying that no-one was allowed to remove
anything dumped, not just that members of the public weren't allowed
to - that as you say doesn't happen anywhere.

I read the "you" in his post as the public. If the council employees are
able to remove things then it would be in their best interest, although
I'd assume that sorting on arrival would be better than trying to pick
    things out afterwards.

It's intro paragraphs like this that make URC worth looking at :-)
    nice one!!!

Except for the missing paragraphs which describe the recipe for the
    spicy apple cake. 🙁

    6 oz butter/marge/whatever
    6oz brown sugar

    <snip>

Many thanks. I'll see how many apples there are around

Bake 60-75 mins until a clean knife comes out clean. Lock the kitchen
door[2], remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool for ten
minutes before removing it from the tin.

Put the kettle on for a large cup of tea. Enjoy.

[1] There is no first footnote
[2] If you have other family members in the house.

Is that your wife, or the children?

    Sounds very nice, anyway.

8oz apple is about three peeled and chopped apples. Any sort will do
except the really horrible mealy things like red/golden delicious.

I am trying to identify the variety I have in the back garden. The
ones in the front claim to be James Grieve (thats what it said on the
label when we planted the tree). The ones in teh back do look like an
older variety, especially as the tree is over 100 yo.
