  1. This Sunday I'm doing a 16 mile TT. This past Monday I rode a TT-like 16 miles, yesterday(Tuesday) I didn't ride b/c of heavey rains, and today(Wednesday) I just did another TT-like 16 miles.

I figure on Sat. I'd do a easy 30 min. spin. How should I ride on Thursday and Friday?

  2. I'd do a moderate workout on Thursday and then rest on Friday. You've done a couple of hard workouts this week, so you don't want to go into Sunday tired - you will need ever fiber of strength you can muster!!! Also, keep your Saturday ride easy, as you plan (I would do more like 45-60 minutes easy) but mix in one or two sprint efforts to keep your muscles from going too flat.

  3. I woud surely begin to taper my workload downward...and make sure you are rested for sunday's event. Not much you can do now to improve your performance other than ensure that you are 100%. You definitely do not want to borrow any reserves that should be used sunday.

Rest up on friday (if this is an important event). Then saturday ride for 60 - 90 minutes at recovery to long endurance effort, and include three x 45-secs at race effort. Use your race bike, and if using them, do the session in race position on your TT bars.

During the session ensure plenty of fluids and carbohydrates are consumed, and then when you finish the session consume ~ 1.5 g of carbohydrate per kg body mass (e.g., 105 g carb if you have a mass of 70 kg). Ensure plenty of carbs (e.g., pasta, rice) are consumed during the rest of the day and several hours before the race (although you shouldn't try anything new before a race). This will ensure your muscle and liver glycogen stores are fully topped off (muscle and liver glycogen predominantly fuel a TT).

  5. IT WENT GREAT!! I did the 16.6 very very hilly course in 46:05. It was good enough for 30th place out 205 riders. I actually did it in 45 min. flat, but they must stop the clock when the canoers hit the water.

Heres the link to the race.

  6. Well done!

(What regime did you follow in the end? I've got a big race tomorrow, but I'm not doing ANYTHING today)
