  1. Howdy! I am doing my first triathlon at the end of August and I am curious if anyone has suggestions on race clothing.
I have looked into Race Suits and seperate tops and bottoms (something to swim in and make transitions faster), but I just don't know which is a better brand and if there are differences in performance from one brand to the next? Which company makes outstanding race gear? Orca, DeSoto, TYR, Speedo? Anyone have experience with these?

Personally, I like Emilio DeSoto's stuff. I use his shorts and singlet for training and for
competition, and his winter headband to protect my ears in the winter.

    Nice guy too.

I'll second that. I use the power lycra tri shorts for most of my long training and racing
stuff. Maybe just coincidental but my ITB incidences have nearly gone away since using them
    for training too.

    Go with DeSoto.

I recommend the suit. I find it slows me down if I try to get a shirt on while I'm wet.

So what is the name of that substance that forms on your back after an open water swim and makes it
impossible to pull your shirt down?

Yeah, especially for a guy who loans out his shorts to just about anyone
    🙂

    Sorry... in a mood.

I appreciate the suggestions. In South TX there are not alot of shops that carry tri-gear or have a good selection of Tri-gear to choose from. You would think with all the races in the Austin/San Antonio area there would be at least one shop with wider and better selections. So, asking for opinions on gear before I bought race gear was essential. Thanks.😄

So that's how they make it!
