Even a little guy can look big and tough with a thick neck and good traps.
That no neck look makes one look like a stud.
On the other side, a long, skinny neck (no matter how built you are) makes
you look like a pansy. It's hilarious seeing these buff guys who obviously
spend hours a day in the gym with all these giant muscles, but tiny, skinny
necks. They look so goofy.
True.
Speaking for the giraffe people, I (kindasorta) remember two
neck-related jokes/humorous situations from TV and/or film.
One had a really geeky, nerdy-looking guy, hair parted at the side,
glasses, shortish, long skinny neck, getting picked on. Suprisingly,
when he took his coat off he was all shoulders, chest and arms! Thick
veins on his biceps, he quickly opened a can of whupass on his
assailant.
The other was either the Beavis and Butthead movie or an episode of
the cartoon. Henry Rollins was on the tube and one turned to the other
and said something like, "IF I HAD A NECK LIKE THAT, I COULD RULE THE
WORLD!" See also:

And not even a hoody is going to make Stipe look like a stud:

Oh, well, SOMEONE has to look like a pansy so all the no-neck mafahs
have people to look bigger than, right?
DON'T MENTION IT, ROLLINS! GLAD TO HELP.
