Quoted message said:I don't know why, but there are a lot more thorns on the road than
usual this Fall. Fall is the season when the thorns and thistles lie
insidiously on the road. You can't see them, so you can't avoid them.
When you return from a 30-mile ride, you have about 4 thorns in your
tires, which are slowly deflating, even though you thought you had
been wiping them off regularly as you rode. You have to carry 2 spare
tubes, plus patches and glue, in order to be sure you can finish the
ride. I've bought a lot of tubes recently. Someday I am going to fix
the punctured ones.
What part of California? Here in San Diego I had a spate of front tire
flats about a month ago -- and yes, from small thorns -- but none since. (I
finally replaced my tires, as the rear was pretty worn and the front had
those pesky little holes in it!)
Maybe thorn season is over?
