Show was OK... i found the Giant, Bianchi, Maxxis, Dirtworks, Avid & BBB of most interest and this new baby carrier company coming in called croozer

Good thing was that they were not trying to sell anything, they were really just there to display their products. Shame Specialized and Co (Avanti) weren't there.

You did the Spring Cycle? I thought you weren't doing it. What time did you start?

I did it with about 15 friends but we were split up before the first stop. There were too much fitness/experience difference in the group. One friend got taken out by a kid near Rhodes and he is still recovering with a very swollen but not fractured left hand.

One thing I noticed this year was some of the idiots. One guy towing 2 kids, was just road rager, yelling at everyone to stay left. I just go sick of him doing it so I chased him down and hassled him (leaving my group) beeping my airzound in his ear. Just a damn fool. I told him to shut up and if he was in such a hurry why don't he ride elsewhere. It is a shame that there are a few idiots who are intent of making others feel miserable.

Towards the end after the Rhodes stop, me, my bro, cous and friend, turned it on. We averaged between 25km/h to 45km/h but being careful....

Overall, it was good to see so many people out riding. It seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year which is awesome because it raises the profile of cycling, but maybe we need to also educate people about attitude.

BNSW did a great job of making the end more festive.... way way better organised than last year

Scott, unfortunately I am busy this Friday so I can't come to CM. Maybe the next one... I am going to the Netti sale on Saturday though

Did the cycle, but when I got to Homebush things hadn't really got going yet, so I went home.
The ride seemed quite dangerous in comparison with normal car traffic; people weaving all over the road and hogging the right as if they owned it. Fun anyway.
Was there any food provided at the rest stops?

Yeah, I entered kinda late as the commitment I thought I had didn't eventuate.

I also noticed the idiots. Whenever you get a large group you get idiots.

The bigger the group - the bigger the proportion of idiots doing dangerous things.

It was fun. Went with a couple of the BN people.

This was my first "organised" ride and I found it a blast. I was about 10th over the start line (being an eager newbie) and was surprised to have so much room all the way to the end. I rode with my bird who is 10 times as fit as I am so I got a bit of a tow and finished in under 2hrs. Still feeling it though. Must say, I was disappointed by the quality of the road surface, and at times I though my bike was going to fall apart from under me. Anyway, really good fun and a sensational, sunny morning.

The show was pretty good but having just bought a bike (guess which one😄 ) I didn't really want to look at what I could've had instead. Always the way. I watched the gys on the rollers doing a "500m dash" in 10sec. I couldn't believe how fast these guys can move their legs. Nuts.

My first organised ride too. Had a blast. Didn't know how fast I should pedal but I kept up with most riders (yes I know it's not a race, but had to push myself). Rode solo most of the way though as I seem to ride between two groups' pace. Finished it under 2 hrs before heading to the show with some friends.

Missed one turn completely (a left around Homebush). Was by myself when I saw someone in front of me turning into the cyclepath instead of the road (which was sort of where the arrows and BNSW signs were pointing). I came to a complete halt when he suddenly stopped and press the pedestrian crossing button. Then a bunch of cyclists buzzed by through the road before I realised my mistake. The Sunday rider apologised to me on leading me in the wrong direction before I took off with the other bunch 😄. The cramps that occurred when I had to jumped off the bike in that instance was unbelievable :P

Yes, with BN types.

We are planning to meet at Central Station then ride to the start.

Hi all, we did the Spring Cycle too.
We're from the 'Gong and stayed overnight (Sat), at Ryde. Went to the show Sat, from the motel. Parked the tandem in the secure bike parking and enjoyed the show.
Disappointed there was only two tandems- that we saw anyway.

Early Sunday morning we parked the car at Rhodes shopping centre and rode to the start, that was the hardest part hehe! Those hills from Lane Cove to Greenwich, along River Road warmed us up. After that the 50k Spring Ride was a breeze!

We had a great ride, saw 2 other tandems on the road, but more after the finish (we started in the 2nd wave).

I only heard Sydney Tandem Club was meeting at 7.30am several days after the event 🙁
By the way, does anyone have a link to the Sydney Tandem Club, we would like some info?

Yep, we did the Spring Cycle as well (2nd time). We had a group of about 10 and didn't really all ride together but managed to meet up at each rest stop along the way.

This years decision to finish at SOP was much better than Parramatta park, IMHO. The loop route through the newington/sop area really showed how much there is to ride in that area. There seemed to be a real festival atmosphere at the finish, and having the bike show on as well was a pleasant distraction. Checked out the trials riders- those guys are impressive!

We had parked our car at Wolli creek train station in the morning, so rode from Homebush back to the car- ended up doing 75km... probably easy for the average roadie, but a big day for us!
