  1. I had one serving (4 tea spoons and half a glass of water) of Optimum
Nutrition Protein Whey. The next day I had some gas problems. I thought
that drinking it with water should not cause any gas problems. Any
    ideas?

    Yes, dilute it more.

And don't expect not to have gas - some brands of protein powder bother
some people's stomachs. If it persists, try another brand of protein
    powder.

    Yes, dilute it more.

I'm not so sure. By the time it gets to the gas-producing area, it's
been pretty well diluted by stomach and intestinal fluids.

Usually, lactose free is the least problem for gas.

Just what works for me - sometimes things that bother my stomach don't if I
take enough water with them, e.g., just a plain old aspirin, my vitamins,
etc. The symptom for me isn't gas, per se, just an upset stomach.

I made the BIG mistake of buying Optimum instead of my usual cheaper brand
(Kaizen) and I definitely could feel that I wasn't digesting it well. I
should have thrown it away since it just didn't "feel" right, but I
continued to use it. The worst part is that in addition to the gas, it was
causing acid reflux, but I wasn't aware of it. It ended up damaging my
esophagus and I had to go on several months of acid inhibiting medication to
    let it heal.

Before this incident I never had any sort of digestive issues, so I don't
know why I reacted so badly to the Optimum product, but I'll definitely
    never use it again.

Try Muscle Milk. It has Glutamine which is good for the gut.

  7. NOw, QV's posting is scary. How do I know that the same thing is not
going to happen to me? My wife is furious at me for spending 32 bucks
on this thing which looks like I am going to have to try to sell.

Let your wife use it. Her stomach is probably not as femininely sensitive as
    yours.

Do you get that annoying chaffing on your thighs from your undershorts, too?
Desitin baby butt creame helps that.

Don't let my experience spook you too much. I think a big part of my problem
was that I would regularly have a serving of whey before going to bed.
Normally, I never had any issues, but with Optimum the minor indigestion
caused acid damage while I slept (just bad timing). If you're having
problems, I would suggest that you take your last serving no later than a
couple of hours before bed and maybe try a different brand next time.

You're better off with casein before bed anyway.
