I'd be interested to see the source, with context and
    supporting references.

I read recently that Elvis was seen in the Simpson desert.

    Sally

Well, actually, the one in Oz. However - I accept the
correction, although it would be difficult to be seen in a
cultural desert. But then, it would be difficult to see this
    subject anyplace:-)

Interesting article. I tend to agree with this comment on
    page 2:

'"One possible part of the explanation is that people who
see they are beginning to gain weight may be more likely to
switch from regular to diet soda," Fowler suggests. "But
despite their switching, their weight may continue to grow
    for other reasons.

Actually, only one reason... more food on the plate.

    Quoted message said:

So diet soft-drink use is a marker for
    overweight and obesity."

Actually, here it would be a marker for those whose appetite is
stimulated by sweetness **and** an agent for stimulating that appetite
(aka hunger) compelling someone to put more food on the plate.

    Quoted message said:

Why? Nutrition expert Leslie Bonci, MPH, RD, puts it in a
    nutshell.

"You have to look at what's on your plate, not just what's
in your glass," Bonci tells WebMD.

Actually, you have to **weigh** what is on your plate even if there is
no nutritive value for what is in your glass. Visual estimates on food
amount tend to get skewed to underestimation when there is hunger.

For those who are interested in discussing these points further...

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is

is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments, the 2

Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is
the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2
which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments,
the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger sign
of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and satan],
and the 2PD-OMER Approach. Let it not ever be written that Christ did

Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16
oz makes 2 pounds, which is "a certain measure of weight," which is

Accepting His love has nothing to do with proper cardiology, diabetes,
low carbing or food in general. You can't eat it. You can't control
your blood sugar with it. You can't cook it. And you can't defibrulate

Lord Christ teaches from Matthew 5:

11Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely
say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad,

because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.

You will be in my prayers, dear Vicki, whom I love, in Lord Christ's
    holy name.

May you reject your pride and accept Him as your personal Lord and
Savior, someday, so that you too will have eternal life and the
fascinating riches of His everlasting kingdom.

    Here's how:

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is
the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2
which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments,
the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger sign
of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and satan],
and the 2PD-OMER Approach. Let it not ever be written that Christ did
not make His presence known here on Usenet :-)

This thing is why I think Chung is a little beyond the norm of people
who believe in Jesus. He believes that God is not only in the Internet,
but that he is making short links and webpages and posting to Usenet.
On top of that, he thinks God is shilling for his wacky two pounds
diet. When you've filled one of those hands I was talking about before
with two pounds, maybe you can eat that.

    Quoted message said:

Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16
oz makes 2 pounds, which is "a certain measure of weight," which is
what "omer" literally means in Hebrew.

    Exodus 16:16 reads as follows:
This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man
according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number
of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.

An omer is a measure of weight and of time (more frequently). At no
point is an omer of weight defined. His claim that this is 2 pounds is
artless and deceptive for the gullible. Shameless.

Enter the 2PD-OMER Approach, which can "cure" metabolic syndrome (MetS)
thereby bringing this thread back on topic in these NGs :-)

Long way to get there. Why couldn't you start here, and work your magic
with the cult stuff left out. Maybe someone would take you seriously if
you junked the junk and just focused on the realities of why your goofy
diet works. I will suggest that it doesn't really work, which explains
your need to cover it with this mysticism. Submit it for real
scientific studies. Hell, put it on the Biggest Loser or Celebrity Fit
Club. Do something to put you ahead of even Ori the Warrior Diet guy,
cause right now, even he has more science and proof than you do.

It has been empirically determined that an omer is 32 ounces (aka 2
    lbs).

Science is the search for the truth. In the absence of this search,
there is actually a lack of faith.

Actually, science is merely a method of discovering how the
(material) world works. When it comes to explaining the truly important
things (and things that are largely off-topic for these groups), like
justice, morality, beauty, etc., science is pretty ineffective.

I guess science could be looked at as a "search for truth," but not
really the interesting truths, IMHO. Also, practicing science really
requires no faith whatsoever - other than faith that the metholology
being used is sound. Pure empiricists believe in nothing at all unless
it is observable. This is all basic Philosophy of Science 101.
