tires and Probikekit

Well I've just thrown a set of Vittoria Rubinos on my OCR3 after the
Michelins started looking distinctly second hand. They're firmer than I'm
used to, being 23mm but ride well so far. A bit soon to be making judgements
though.

23mm works fine for me, and I'm a lot heavier than you 🙂

I plan on putting an order in either today or tomorrow if you want to split

Tim you might want to have a crack at removing them at home. My first
puncture on the OCR2 involved lots of swearing trying to remove the tyre
for the first time. Especially seeing I only carried 1 tyre lever (hell
my old tyres cold be removed by hand).

I ended up getting GP4000's for my carbie TCR road bike.. go 23mm for
sure - if anything they just look faster 🙂

Hey TimC!!

I have one set of wheels, that get me through commuting, training and
racing - and they are 23's. No dramas - they're fine.

As for tyres, well I've racked up 3000km on the current ones that came
with the bike - Vittoria Zaffiro's (their bottom-of-the-range ones, I
believe). That's 3000km without a puncture (I hope the gods are looking
away!!).

But, that said, the rear sidewall has just started breaking up a bit,
so I am due now to change.

Am interested in what you end up choosing (and any particular reasons
why)... I've been eyeing off the Attack/Force combo, but I think that's
just because I like the name, and the w#nk value of having tyres
specifically designed for front and back... *laughs*

Used to ride with Continental tyres.Just had a pair of Rubino Pro 23mm on my bike recently and not a single problem.It is definitely a good training tyre with reasonable price to boot.

Continental Gatorskin 700x25. Round about the $45-50 mark locally. Haven't
had a puncture on one yet. Probably means I'll get one on the way to work
tomorrow...

I have Gatorskins on my OCR2 and no punctures to date after about 3 months. Hopefully I won't get a puncture on the Audax Noojee ride tomorrow.

I found it so amusing to find out that the puncture gods are real, I
didn't even get [censored], despite the cold dark conditions, and the
rain coming in as I cleaned up.

Broken glass in the rear (I didn't end up finding it in the tire, but
I saw the pile of broken glass from the accident a few metres away
from where I turned[1]), when I turned right (I was pulling it a bit
fine with traffic too, so glad I didn't slide out). I was surprised
to feel the high pressure air on my leg.

Walked along to the next street light, and parked myself on the wet
ground. Tire was a cinch to remove, so maybe yours were a different
brand.

Put the first patch on, but didn't wait long enough for the glue,
because I was keen to get away before the next band of rain. So put
another one on, and got myself home. Got to get up at an early
indeterminate time tomorrow morning for an MBTC ride -- must still
cook pasta, for a BBNT burger just aint... nutritious enough.

[1] A guy came out to talk to me as I was putting the second patch on,
and said he rides 3 times in a week - 60km each. Didn't manage to
convert him to touring -- "not enough time". Anyway, he heard the
accident happen.

would people do? How long do $5 notes last as a boot? Are there

Tim its Carroll cres glen iris I dont wanna put the addy up here...
just in case thats a silly idea but if u ride up and down a couple of
times you will either spot the motorbike or we will spot u. Its in the
40s.
