As my toddler used to say, "dat toopid."
Atkins died of a head injury.
Watson probably just *looked* that old. ;-)

So, with Jimm Fixx and every other premature vegan death, vegans are
batting about .023.

True, likely too light headed and weak from lack of carbs to catch his
himself and "boom, fall down and die! " 😉

Jim Fixx was not a vegan. He was an overweight smoker who become a
well-toned runner. But not soon enough to keep him from falling dead at
52.

He was a vegetarian who did not believe in supplementation with
vitamins.

Most of my sources agree, though it's a long way from vegetarian to
vegan. I think Fixx merely omitted meat.

Speaking of Jim Fixx:

This is incorrect. Jim Fixx was prominently discussed in Nathan
Pritikin's book "Diet for Runners." Fixx, like other runners who
dropped dead, believed that marathon running alone would provide
protection against heart disease. He did not follow a heart healthy
diet. If he ever was a vegetarian, it wasn't for very long, but I
can't find any documentation that he ever was a vegetarian.
Anyway, vegetarianism, but itself, doesn't protect against
cardiovascular disease. Many Indian (Asian) vegans have very high fat
diets, high blood cholesterols, and high incidence of cardiovascular
disease.
Anyway, I have come to understand that there is no such thing as a
universally "best' diet. Many people (myself included) thrive (as in
more than 3 decades now) on low meat/low fat/high carb diets. Others
do just fine on high fat diets, Mediterranean diets, Asian diets, or
even junk food diets. With or without "supplements." Diet, as in so
many other things related to health, should be individualized. Most
people are capable of finding a general diet plan which works,
individually, for them, if they make the effort to do so.

Hey! What is the big deal?
My father who hated fished outlived Atkins.
Just my opinion, but Montygram is a big fat idiot. 🙁

Exactly, and his diet was not nearly as extreme as vegans' are. Even
more reason to eat real meat.
