  1. It was a good meet for me. I went 3 for 3 deadlifting and even tried - but
didn't make - a fourth attempt, set a new meet PR, a new overall PR, and got
a couple of AAU records in the process. The meet was push-pull (bench and
DL) but I elected to only DL this time.

Last year, I got the record for the Raw Lifetime Drug Free division - it
hadn't been set before. The Raw division, which has many more people in it,
had a record already and I didn't break it. All this in M45-49, 67.5 kg
    age/weight class.

This year I moved up an age class. There were existing records in both Raw
    and Raw Lifetime M50-54, 67.5 kg, both only 308 lbs I pulled 150, 160, 165
kg, which translates into 330, 353, and 364 lbs. My old PR, set less than a
week ago at home, was 355 lbs., and until then, it had been 350 for about a
year. 364 wasn't a terribly slow ordeal, either, but I frankly didn't have
it in my head to try a fourth, and even though I only went up by 2.5 kg, I
didn't get the lift - got a couple of inches off the floor and stalled,
which is where I have problems if I'm going to have them in a DL.

Thanks to everyone here for the kinds words about the DL cycle message I
posted a few days ago that I used to prep for this meet. Everything went
pretty much according to plan, and now, damn it, all my weights at a given
percentage are going to be higher - I forgot about that particular downside
    to a new PR. 🙂

I got to meet Bryce Lane at the meet and watch him start his lifts on
Saturday morning. Pavel Tsatsouline, Bryce, Bryce's wife Johanna, and I had
a nice chat before I had head out.

Fantastic meet, Steve! What a long ways you've come from being
side-lined with a back injury. I'm so thrilled to "know" you!

That's pretty good, congrats. Are you about 4 kg away from 2.5
bodyweight? (I'm not sure how wide the weight class is).

Well done. It's embarrassing to think that I am half again as heavy
as you are and 16 years your junior and you can still out deadlift me.
Every time I start getting excited about how much stronger I am
getting I just have to think that Steve "the Ballerina" Freides is
pulling more and it is back to work. Heck, I don't even have the
    excuse of a bad back.

    Thanks for the motivation.

Yeah, I'm pretty close. The weigh-ins are done in pounds, not kg, and
my official weight at the weigh-in was 147.5 lbs. That times
    two-and-a-half is 368.75, and I pulled 363.8, so I'm just under 5 lbs.
shy if you want to figure it that way, a bit more if you figure it by
the upper limit of the weight class, which is 148.75 lbs. The weight
class is from 60 to 67.5 kg, basically 132 to 148 lbs.

You'd best be lifting instead of writing messages on mfw.

    🙂

Thank you, thanks to John, Dally, and everyone else for the kind words.
It's been a long journey since the back injury and I'm pretty pleased
with how it's going so far. Going to a meet is a really a chance to
notice how far one has come, at least it was this time for me.
