  1. Just put some 2nd tyres on to my mountain bike wheels, but now discovered
    they are too wide for the current brakes as they are set. Is there a way I
    can readjust the brakes so that the wheels can fit in properly?

    Presumably, you have V-brakes. Yes, it should be possible to simply
    undo the cable at the quick-release, loosen the pad post clamps,
    reposition the pads so that each V-brake arm has adequate tire
    clearance, clamp them back down, and then loosen the cable clamp, hook
    the cable back in at the QR, and readjust the cable.
