TenKMan's Jordan Hasay ran strong the entire way I'm told and finished
way ahead of the pack. It was interesting that the two girls from
Saratoga NY were running for the East. They did not compete with their
HS team this year due to some coaching differences. The regionals are
open to all qualifiers even though they have not run for a HS team. So
they placed in the top 10. It must be only in the last few years that
they have gone from 8 to 10 for each of the 4 regions.

has been successful yet controversial in their approach.

marvelous to watch. Ceci who won the 1980 Championship was there today
to watch her daughter compete: Anne St. Geme. I would have liked to

Interesting interview. I always suspected there was something in the
water in Saratoga because they seem to produce more than their share of
world class high school girls in particular. 😉 I also remember there
was hints of controversy particularly in the area of working their asses
off with consistent hard training and little rest. Almost to the point
of those that survived ran then rest just turned to dust. Nicole kind
of alludes to the coach's demand(run to tolerance) when she was
experiencing ITB problems.

There is always two sides so I guess I'm probing to see if the
scuttlebutt was the coach(s) training philosophy more for the coach's
ego rather than the runners?

When my daughter ran in high school the coach was cognitive of the girls
and their hormonal and emotional growing pains. I watched 8th graders
and freshmen phenomenal runners turn into also-rans by their junior
year. In general when I hear about young good runners it's not until
junior or senior year that you can really tell. Of the five years I
watched my daughter's team only one survived the grow surge and went on
for a partial scholarship to college.

From what I 've seen and heard there's not just smoke here, there's fire.
I don't think the "fun" aspect is emphasized at Saratoga.
