Ribble Cycle Frames

I have been using an identical RIBBLE frame (sloping top tube) to the one you mention (£550), with ITM Millenium 1 1/8 c-c forks & Dura-Ace groupset, weighs in at 18lb, It was bought as a 'best road bike' therefore has only been raced upon, it handles like a dream, and due to the Carbon black tail - is very comfortable especially on long tt's (100miles).

However after about 9 months it began to creak!

I have been trying every trick in the book to remedy this but so far I haven't had any luck :-(

The creaking seems to be either the bottom bracket or the screwed-in gear & brake cable bosses.

I am considering trying removing all bosses and greasing their fixing screws.

I would advise you not to purchase a frame of this type!

My three other bikes are all steel - never any creaks!

If I fail to remedy my creaking RIBBLE all the bits are going onto my Graham Weigh 853 (steel) spare frame.

I would consider a Titanium frame (my friend has an Airbourne looks well made at reasonable cost) in search of lighter materials.

Thanks for the info'. As I live in Manchester, I visited Ribble and had a good old look at their frames. On the surface they looked fine. However, whilst there a guy was complaining about exactly the same problem you have - creaking! The response he got from the guy at Ribble was such that they couldn't give a damn about the fact the frame was just over 12 months old! Purely on this observed encounter at Ribble - I will not be buying one of their frames. Once again, thanks for the reply.
