Just found this site today. I am new to cycling at the age of 25. I found cycling as a rehab for my broken back a few months back. I went out and bought a new road bike and indoor trainer and thats how it all started. Now I cant get off the darn thing. Its actually been a great tool for my physical therapy. I look forward to learning more about the sport and the finer points of training. Look forward to reading all about it!:p

It is a problem that seems to be happening to a lot of people. They get on a bike and BOOM you are hooked.

As you can tell from my name, I also am from Seattle and have just joined the forum.
We've had a great summer, and I have stepped up the serioiusness of my riding since May.
My generally favorite ride is from my home in West Seattle, across the low Spokane St. bridge, along the waterfront, over the Ballard Bridge and onto the Burke-Gilman.
It's a fun and varied ride. I also, of course, cruise along the Duwamish Trail along West Marginal Way. Not a bad route.
I am interested in trying the Green River ride one of these days.

I'm also new to Seattle (3 weeks). Just got a road bike after a few years of mountain biking (rather, riding a mountain bike on paved roads in Chicago) and have been looking for good places to ride, aside from Burke-Gilman, which I ride often since I live across the street! Any thoughts?

By the way, try 15th Ave W South from Ballard to Mercer exit. Climb the hill and continue through lower queen, drop Mercer under the 99 overpass and hang a right on dexter. Follow dexter through to Pike or something and go oup the hill. It's fun, reward yourself with a beer at Linda's or the Lobo or something...
