Police called to convince lottery winner Dec 21, 2005, 8:32 AM (ET)
BERLIN (Reuters) - A lottery company had to call the police to convince an elderly German woman that she had hit the jackpot, police said Tuesday.
"The woman had quite a sizeable win but was worried that she was having her leg pulled," said Joachim Gerhardt, a police inspector in the eastern German city of Gera.
"We were fortunately able to convince her so she could celebrate her good fortune," he said, adding that the woman would probably receive her winnings before Christmas.

There was a similar story a couple years ago in the New Jersey area IIRC. A guy had gone to H&R Block to have his taxes done and was automatically entered into a contest.
He hung-up on every attempt to contact him since he new he hadn't entered any million dollar sweepstakes and figured they were the usual scams.
