Anyone have any experience with the Performance Campus pedal? Its one of those cage on one side SPD on the other. Unlike some generic pedals, which are "SPD-like" and hit and miss as far as compatibility - Performance states that these are "Perfectly compatible with Shimano SPD cleats". Can anyone confirm?

I don't have the Performance-branded pedals; but I have some OEM pedals that are exactly like them (probably identical). Yes, they're 100% SPD cleat compatible. I love 'em. Great pedals.
Not sure what you mean by "hit and miss" on compatibility. I've had zero problems with at least 4 different non-Shimano SPD-type pedals. If the cleats are identical, then they're compatible. Note also that some of the OEM and unbranded pedals are the exact same pedals as the big brands (Ritchey, for instance). Many of these are manufactured by Wellgo and VP in Taiwan (and presumably mainland China).
I had a pair on my commuter bike and did not like them at all. They click in was much harder than my Shimano pedals and the click out was troublesome at times. It was like the compatibility was about 85%. The worst thing that happened was one of the pedals snapped when I was really pushing up a hill. I replaced them with the Shimano version and have had no problems.
I should also say that I still purchase lots of merchandise from Performance, so I am not a Performance basher at all.

I've got them on a bike that I let lots of other folks use so I don't have to switch pedals each time I want to go on a training ride. They work fine for me.
