le tour de Mull

I was there last week.
Beautiful place.
I wasn't on a cycling holiday but the scenery was ace.
I cycled from the Iona ferry across to Craignure, presumably where you are getting the ferry from Oban from. A beautiful 40 mile run. No really steep climbs but a couple of long hills. The route up to Tobemory (Ballemory) is good too but a lot hillier. There are some good mountain bike trails up in the northern half of the islands. Nearly all of the roads are single track but the motorists - both tourists and islanders are generally great - it's like cycling in Holland!
If you haven't booked a site, there is a good one about 200 yds from the ferry terminal. Just turn left and you won't miss it.
For repairs I think there is a cycle shop called "On Yer Bike" in Saren (sp?) and I think there is another in Tobemory.
The site I mentioned was the most expensive we stayed on in scotland but it did have good facilities, canoeing, powerboat you can drive to island with seals.
Make sure your tickets are correct and that you arrive at the ferry on time as some of the CALmac people can be right officious [censored]. If you want to know owt else let me know.

I've been there twice. Lovely place. Quiet roads and beautiful scenery.

Off the ferry there are 2 campsites, one to your left overlooking the Sound and another just
past Fishnish. I stayed here, nice site with reasonable facilities and a small restaurant but
no view :-(.

Take the road to Fhionport which is a lovely days run and stay at Fidden Farm campsite. Very basic
facilities (portakabin in the farmyard) but the location makes up for it. On the grass overlooking
the Sound of Iona.

No point in taking the bike to Iona but it's worth going over and spending most of a day
walking around.

Beware that if you take the road from Craignure to Tobermory it drops you right down to sea level
and the Tobe campsite is outside the town up a steep hill!

Calgary beach is nice as well. I can recommend the Copper Pot cafe at Salen and the Mishnish pub in
Tobermory.

Looks like the ferry could be fun my "cycle" is a Trice recumbent trike with a Burley trailer, you
can guess it's quite big!
