In the manuel it says to press both bottons simultaneously from any location or mode in display. i did this and it cleared all my data, i did this while riding. am i missing somthing?

Press *and hold* until -- clr-- is displayed to clear data. Press *and release* to start an interval period.
Also, if you want to switch your display to show data from the current interval, hold down the Mode button for 2 seconds. Press and hold for 2 seconds again to switch back.
