  1. I've seen some complaints about high prices here lately, but I recall looking at a Nashbar catalog
    or some such and seeing a 17-lb roadbike for $995 or something crazy like that.

    In general it seems like rather affordable roadbikes have tons of high-tech, quality features.

    ...And I also read about high-end and/or custom steel frames that aren't bad either, but are still a
    $1K step up in bike price usually.

    At the same time I hear there are quite a few $4K bikes out there. Oh well, takes all kinds.

    But I'm impressed at what you can get for cheap. (The stats about them anyway. I haven't ridden
    them. When it came time for me to buy my last roadbike---20 yrs ago---there sure weren't many
    options left after I rode them!)
