If the thumb button doesn't move, I would have the lever overhauled. Or perhaps something is fouling
the main lever, not allowing the thumbutton to go down. It isn't drivetrain stuff, as the button
should move..

Just give the other lever a quick click, then the thumb button will be released. (In other words,
upshift a click or 2, then try the thumb button again.) This is a condition I have somethimes heard
referred to as "Campy lock". I get it sometimes with my Veloce 8spd.

I have that problem. I think sweat gets into the mechanism, and it seems nothing will shift it. The
first thing to do is pull both levers away from each other. This should loosen the mechanism. You
may need to do that a few times.

I also read that it could be the lack of cable tension, and that pulling on the cable itself to
tension it helps it to shift. I haven't tried that.

When you get back home, give it a dose of some good oil!
