While recumbent bicycles do have comfortable seats when compared to
a traditional saddle on an upright bicycle, they are absolutely AWFUL
at hill climbing! For any bicycle that does not permit you to stand
with your full weight on it's pedals, will be a bicycle that you
will most certainly walk up most hills with, and they are
considerably heavier to walk up that hill!

Yes, a few prideful recumbent owners will disagree with our assertions,
but a reasonable person could not dispute... [cont. p.94]

Dan Henry rode all over the US with a similar setup consisting of a
stem, handlebars and a fabric sling. That must be an interesting patent!

it cropped up in RBT or RBM (or both perhaps) the other day. While the
site is funny enough to be worth a read itself the flame war that the
owner entered into with some of the people who responded to his
spamming was even funnier.
