I've posted some photos after riding up Sierra Road yesterday. It's been a
very long time since I'd ridden that beast; wow, I'd forgotten how nasty it
is! For what it's worth, the sign at the bottom of the road says it will be
closed at noon, but there's still no word from anyone as to when they'll
stop allowing bikes up it. You'll want to get up there early anyway, as
there are two or three places where you can get multiple perspectives/shots
as they're coming through, and those spots are going to be very popular.
www.ChainReaction.com/sierra_road.htm. I've also got a HAC-4 elevation
profile, but so what? The road goes up, steeply. You already knew that!
Also, three more very good articles on the race in this-mornings' San Jose
Mercury News, including pieces from Scott Herhold (his own experience riding
up Sierra Road), John Woolfolk (why it's good for San Jose's economy etc)
and David Pollak, who's been writing about the race itself.
