  1. Yes folks, after three and a half years of braving Sydney's peak hour roads, I'm moving to Melbourne and I want to join a club. I like road racing (and crit), the odd bunch ride and (*gasp*) triathlon.

I'll be living in Ascot Vale, but I don't know how relevant that is for club choice in Melbourne.

    Any good suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Ritch

PS. These races at Kew sound like fun!

I'm guessing that's a 30-40 minute ride to the start of the BR in
doncaster, judging by the central key map in melway.

And yay melbourne. Apart from the sucky hot weather.

Sorry for not making it to CM tonight -- too hot to venture outside,
    so durnking inside.

  3. Biased of course, but i dont think which club you are a member of makes THAT much difference apart from perhaps extra-curriculae activities

AscotVale you are closer to Footscray or Brunswick CCs altho you ARE only going to be 20-30min ride from the Kew course AND HCC is the cheapest membership in town 😄 (plug, plug)

The last (and only) time you were in town you rode to the BR from Sunshine, i think? so A'vale will be a doddle.

Welcome to the more-cycle-friendly town laddy!

Hmm, Kew is the closest race course, though SKCC's course looks comparable in distance from A'vale. I'll check the website and figure it out when I move down (in about three weeks). My one and only appearance at a BR was from St Albans so this will be easier.

The new job is in the city and one of my prospective collegues is a keen cyclist, so I'll have to leverage off his local knowledge for commuting. I'll probably run to work anyway since it's only about 5km... Otherwise I'll be in the market for a singlespeed sh_tter.

    Thanks for the help.

    Ritch
