The newer Shimano Ultegra dynohub (3N-70) is reckoned to be a bit more
refined than the older Nexus models. Can't say I noticed any difference
between the Ultegra and my own NX-32 models on the single occasion that I
rode a bike equipped with it.

However, my first NX-30 hub did die (or at least start making alarming
grinding noises) and was replaced under warranty a few years ago. I think it
just happened to be a dodgy one since I haven't had a spot of trouble since.

Can I ask one of the fanboys what happens with the dynohub on the Birdy
that powers a B&M 12V lamp ?

Is that a new flavour of Shimano that I haven't encountered before ?
