I'm not terribly sure what you mean by database-driven, so feel free to
ignore my recommendation if it's not what you want. Have you looked at
http://fotopic.net? (I don't think there's a www in there; feel free to
put one in if it doesn't work without one though).

Thanks Fran, buit what I had in mind was a PC-based image
management system that would allow me to store images in a
local database along with annotations and other information
and which would then autogen a web site from the contents of
the database. I could then upload the web site to a server.
There is stuff available but I've only seen pro packages so far
that you have to pay for. I may just have to bite the bullet and
buy some s/w (shock!). And there's me foolishly still living in
a remote universe where the internet is free ;-)

That brought back a few memories! Was the helicopter ride from Fox Glacier?
Just had a look in my diary and we stayed at the Ivory Towers hostel and
went out to Lake Matheson to try and get the early morning shot of Mt Cook
but missed it by 5 minutes :-(

Yes. Christmas Eve :-) We arrived at Fox at about 3:00pm and the
lady at the campsite said that the forecast for Christmas Day was
dreadful so if we wanted to fly then we should do it straight away.
Off we went. We did the Mt Cook/Mt Tasman flyby with a landing
on the Fox nevee.

Haven't used it myself, but http://picasa.google.com/ looks promising ...
a high bells & whistles count if the tour's anything to go by.

Thanks Paul. I was aware of Picasa but I didn't realise that
it had webgen capabilities. I shall investigate it further.
