Nope. Mine's in the right knee. Not a twinge, so far, in the left.

Only problem I've ever had with the left knee is some garden-variety bursar inflammation-- not
really a big deal.

Almost every report on r.r. shows that pattern... Are we facing a conspiracy by shoe companies to
screw everyone's left leg?

I had ITB strain episodes in my right leg twice and a milder episode in the left leg later. Cheap
shoes and too much, too soon, and only an unwitting conspiracy by me to injure me. Good question,
though. chris

Also in most states, the law requires pedestrians not on the sidewalk to go against traffic (ie,
stay on the left side). I'm not sure what the rules are about being in a bike lane, but I'd still
suggest keeping left.

I've found bike lanes and/or separate bike paths in many (most?) college towns and the more
environmentally conscious cities/towns - although they are sometimes missing in the downtown areas
(at least where I've been) and on more residential streets.

You should see Madison, WI, which is FULL of bike lanes. Here, in Minnesota, we have some dedicated
bike lanes, and we have a lot of paved trails, which we share with skaters, roller skiiers, and
walkers/joggers (but no motorized vehicles!).

That explains it. I live in the suburbs of Detroit, never a particularly environmentally
conscious place.

Dot, if you are tired of the warm Alaska winter, come to Michigan. Even in the balmy southeastern
part of the state everything is frozen. Very little snow, but it has been REALLY cold for weeks.
Above freezing for a few hours on a few days.

That causes problems because there is just enough new snow every few days to cover the ice. The area
I live in uses mega tons of salt on the streets but when it is in the single digits (F) at night
(generally the case) it refreezes, so it is the worst of all possible worlds.
