Another early start to beat the crowds. Started walking just after 0730
from St Roche's Hill (also know as The Trundle) north of Chichester, West
Sussex. Headed west in a cold northerly wind, with a rather cloudy sky.
Sky started to clear as I passed Binderton House on the way to Kingley Vale.
Short stretch through Kingley Vale to avoid a little main road walking, then
along a country lane up to Westdean Wood area up from Chilgrove. Followed a
track northeast through the woods, eventually joining the South Downs Way on
Cocking Down. By now the sky was virtually cloud free, though the north
wind was still feeling fresh. Headed east along the SDW to Manorfarm Down
where I had a very pleasant snack stop, then a little further on the SDW
before heading south through Charlton Forest. On arriving at Charlton
village, I continued west to Singleton village, then south back to the car
park just north of The Trundle.
Smashing 15 mile walk, through open country, narrow lanes and forest tracks.
Even saw a small group of stag deer, although a little far away even for my
300mm zoom to get a good photo. Slideshow from along the walk at web
