  1. When I read this I thought for sure it was an April Fool's joke.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A rash of oven-door thefts might be linked to a
recent case in which a woman bought what she thought was a flat-screen
television, only to discover that the package held an old oven door,
    police said.

South Bend detective Sgt. Jim Walsh said police arrested a suspect
Thursday they believe sold the appliance door to the woman. According
to police reports, officers found an oven door and packaging materials
inside the trunk of the man's car.

Oven doors are an increasingly hot item in burglaries of vacant
properties. Walsh said police have investigated five recent burglaries
where oven doors were among the items stolen.

Police have had two reports of the doors being sold as flat-screen
televisions, and it's likely that others went unreported by the
embarrassed dupes, Walsh said. Officers continue to investigate at
least two other suspects who might be selling disguised doors.

Walsh said it's risky to buy products off the street, particularly
without opening a package first to make sure the items are what they
    appear to be.

The bilked woman said she was approached by the suspect Feb. 20 at her
workplace. The suspect offered the victim a flat-screen television at a
bargain price of $500. When the victim couldn't come up with the money,
    the suspect settled for $300.

But when she unwrapped the packaging, peeling away the bubble wrapping
and the Wal-Mart store labels, she found a cord, a controller -- and an
    oven door.

"It's an elaborate job of packaging," Walsh said.

  2. I hear they're even stealing PICTURES of oven doors now....

A convection TV allows you to watch a half-hour show in 20-minutes.

I was going to buy one but it could only get channels ranging from 200

About twenty years ago, I wanted to get a small TV set for the
kitchen. I went to an electronics store and found exactly what I
wanted. Luckily, the salesman told me he would show me exactly how to
use it. "Use a TV set, I know how", I told the man and he looked at me
as if a were insane and said "this is not a TV set, it's a Microwave".
    :o(

I am now trying to find another tiny TV set, only this time I keep
looking at computers, not microwaves. Nobody ever accused me of being
smart, but at least I am being consistent. :o(

Margaret, please do not connect cable or an antenna to your microwave, and
do not try to open the door to your tv. Everything will be just fine! :-)

My husband, Erich, did not think it was very funny. He could not find
me in the TV section and had no idea where I was.....until he heard
hysterical laughter from the Microwave section, on the other end of
the floor and immediately figured out that I had to be involved in one
of my frequent faux pas. He was right, of course.

Once, after my disastrous first dinner party, he said sadly: "Some
people are accident prone, Gretl (that's what he called me) is weird
    prone".

LOL My new monitor is an LCD TV tuner as well as a monitor. I really
like it. It's a Syncmaster 910MP LCDtv by Samsung. That one is
available only in Europe, but there are similar ones in the US I know.

That's a funny nickname; considering your skill at ID'ing an oven, you
wouldn't stand a chance against a witch in a gingerbread cottage.
