True story:
Some years ago on the Penyfan Industrial Estate in Crumlin, South Wales, a
car alternator being carried on the back of a motorcycle came adrift,
bounced along the road, went through the windscreen of a following car and
killed the driver.
Was it the motorcyclists fault as he was responsible for securing the load
or a motorists fault as the alternator was a car part?

Or try this hypothetical story:
For all you know the bicycle belonged to a 7 year old lad whose dad fastened
it to his car. Is it the 7 year old lads fault the bicycle became detatched?

Seems that whoever secured the bike to the roof of the car may have done so
inadequately, or the mechanism by which it was secured failed for some
reason, which may or may not have been the fault of the person who fixed the
bike to the roof of the car. And you don't know if 'the cyclist' secured the
cycle on to the roof of the car...

But, again... a *cyclist* didn't zap a car....

New Forest ..... it is the drivers responsibility. And in this case, the
driver is also a cyclist, and they are always telling us how green and

So he's a numpty. Big deal. Thats the thing about cycling. You can't
stop numpties from riding bikes or not tying them to the roof of their
car.

I'd rather the numpties were on bikes than behind the wheel of busses.
