I have an inplanted dual chamber pacemaker and am enrolled for RFTA
(radiofrequency thermal ablation?) scheduled next May, in order to
cure my paroxysmal afib that has resisted various drug therapies tried
so far.
I plan to discuss ablation procedure with my EP upon the final
decision that is scheduled next February (together with a PM
control).
In the meantime I have been reading some articles found in the web,
which however did not cover a few practical details regarding the
ablation against afib, like the following:
a) how many different catheters and tools need to be inserted,
generally?
b) how long does the whole procedure take, normally, including the
localizaton of the areas to be ablated?
are such areas generally located in same chamber?
c) how many single minispots of the heart tissue get "burned",
normally (sequentially, I guess) along the whole procedure?
